Four Arrested In Murder Of Janie Broadway Williams

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged four individuals in connection with the March 6th 2008 murder of Janie Broadway Williams. The break in the case came when one of the three individuals was arrested in Perry County on un-related charges and began disclosing information to Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith and Investigator Jim Kelly. Sheriff Smith contacted Sheriff Farrior and the MBI.
Those charged in connection with the case are, Angela Hope Busby, Jomorris Thornton, Kendrcik Johnson, and Theaus White. Investigation revealed that the motive was related to payment over a lease/purchase property owned by the victim and her husband. Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Britton set bond for three of the individuals and the fourth will appear before him tomorrow. The investigation has also cleared an armed robbery in the Sunlight community and those charges are forthcoming. The case will be presented to the June 2009, Wayne County Grand Jury.

Sheriff Farrior, Investigators Mike Mozingo and Kevin Stevens met Choctaw County, Alabama Sheriff James Lovette at a pond located on Blue Dirt Road. Officers obtained information during the investigation that Busby and Thornton discarded of the rifle used in the murder in the pond at this location. Investigator Mozingo recovered the firearm at approximately 1425 hours on April 29th 2009.

Johnson appeared before Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Brittion Sr. on April 30th 2009 for an initial appearance. Judge Britton set Johnson’s bond at $1,000,000 and $250,000.
