Alabama Man Charged With DUI Manslaughter In Weekend Accident

A weekend accident leaves one man dead and another man charged with DUI Manslaughter. Sunday morning at about 0210 hours, Wayne County Emergency Operations Center received a call reporting that a man had been struck by a vehicle on Bart Anderson Drive in the Chicora Community. Wayne General Ambulance Service and Deputy Johnny Walker was dispatched to the scene. Deputy Walker initiated an investigation into the accident which resulted in the death of Donnie R. Hendley. Deputy Walker summoned Investigator Stevens to the scene. Several witnesses were interviewed and evidence collected. Wayne County Medical Examiner David Pugh also responded.

Investigators Mike Mozingo and Investigator Stevens worked into Tuesday evening on the case. Investigation revealed that Donnie Hendley was a pedestrian and a four wheel drive truck operated by Vanosdol struck Hendley. Johnny W. Vanosdol of Copeland Road, Milry, Alabama was taken into custody and charged with DUI Manslaughter. Wayne County Justice Court Judge Jane Hutto set bond at $50,000.00. The case will be presented to the January 2009, Grand Jury.
