14 Year Old Charged With Attempted Murder & Armed Robbery

On July 15th 2008, The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department received a call from an oil field worker reporting that while he was working at a location he was shot at 4 or 5 times. Sheriff Stein Farrior, Deputies Wesley Waites and Tim Hollinghead, Investigator Mike Mozingo, and Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett, responded. The victim stated that he was working at the location near Eucutta, when he heard a loud noise. The victim looked around and saw a black male approaching him and firing several rounds at him. Officers identified and collected physical evidence at the scene.
Working with some of the physical evidence a suspect was identified.
 
The suspect was a 14 year old male was taken into custody and the next morning. Investigators Mike Mozingo and Kevin Stevens obtained evidence in the course of the investigation that alleges that the 14 year old went to the location with the intention to kill the worker and then rob him. The 14 year old has been charged as an adult and charged with armed robbery and attempted murder. The case will be presented to the January Wayne County Grand Jury.
