WCSO Arrersts 3 Individuals In Connection With Church Burglary

On Monday November 24th 2009, The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department received a call reporting that the Red Creek Church of God located in the Red Creek Church Road in the Progress Community had been broken into. Investigator Kevin Stevens responded to the scene and was successful in recovering several items of physical evidence. Entry was gained by breaking a glass door on the rear of the Fellowship Hall. Three guitars from the sanctuary were among the items listed as stolen. A window unit air conditioner was also stolen from the parsonage that was being used for storage by the church.
 
Investigator Stevens obtained information from a local Pawn Shop that indicated that Cassandra Middleton Jordan had pawned a guitar which was identified as one stolen from the church. Further investigation revealed that James Taylor Jordan and Jessie Jordan Jr. were also involved. Investigator Mike Mozingo and Stevens located and arrested Cassandra Middleton Jordan at her residence on Jordan Sumrall Road. James Taylor Jordan and Jessie Taylor Jordan turned themselves in at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Monday afternoon.
 
During the course of the investigation, Investigators Stevens and Mozingo learned that James Taylor Jordan and Jessie Jordan Jr. broke into the church and parsonage around 10:00 pm Sunday night. Cassandra Middleton Jordan sold one of the stolen guitars at a pawn shop in Waynesboro. James Taylor Jordan sold the second guitar at a pawn shop in Laurel, Ms. James Taylor Jordan sold the air conditioner to a local scrap metal business.
 
James Taylor Jordan and Jessie Jordan Jr. are charged with burglary of a church as well as burglary of a storage house. Cassandra Middleton Jordan was charged with possession of stolen property. Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Britton Sr. conducted and initial appearance for James Taylor Jordan and Jessie Jordan Jr. and bond was set at a total of $60,000. Cassandra Middleton Jordan’s bond was set at $2,000.00.
 
Investigator Stevens will present the case to the January 11th 2010 Wayne County Grand Jury. Burglary of a Church carries a maximum of 14 years while burglary of the storage house carries a maximum of 7 years. Possession of stolen property (misd) carries a maximum of 6 months.

U P D A T E

 
During the course of the investigation of the burglary of Red Creek Church of God, Investigators Mozingo and Stevens learned that a house located on the Denham Progress Road had been broken into and an window unit air conditioner stolen. Investigators Mozingo and Stevens recovered some physical evidence from the home.
 
James Jordan and Jessie Jordan Jr. have been charged with burglary of dwelling and will appear before Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Britton Sr. Wednesday for an Initial Appearance.
 
Investigators Mozingo and Stevens have also been working with the Washington County Alabama Sheriff’s Department concerning the Sunday night burglary of Antioch Church just inside Alabama. Washington County Alabama Sheriff's Department is in the proccess of filing burglary and theft of property charges on James Taylor Jordan and Jessie Jordan Jr.
