Wayne County Sheriff’s Department has arrested and charged Carl Mixon in connection with a Sunday morning theft that occurred at Dees Salvage yard on Highway 84 West of Waynesboro. A motorist’s suspicion was aroused when a vehicle loaded with used automobile parts pulled out of the salvage yard. The citizen followed the vehicle for a short distance and observed the driver remove the license plate from the rear window. The citizen called and notified Sheriff Farrior of the activity and the direction of travel.
Sheriff Farrior stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Oscar Bell Road and Eucutta Road. Sheriff Farrior arrested the driver Carl Mixon. Investigator Mike Mozingo and Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett arrived on scene. The investigation revealed that the stolen items were valued at approximately $1000.00. Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Britton Sr. set Mixon’s bond at $25,000.00. Investigator Mozingo will present the case to the January 2009 Grand Jury.
