Joshua Allen Beasley (3-10-1985) of 396 Pleasant Grove Altair Road of Laurel, was arrested after fleeing from a safety checkpoint that was being conducted last Saturday night in the Whistler Community of Beat Four. Wayne County Narcotic Investigators Macy Torrey and Johnny Smith arrested Beasley after a vehicle chase that ended in Beasley’s truck running off into a culvert causing the truck to roll over onto to the driver’s side. Three children were removed from child safety seats and moved to a safe place. The truck caught fire in the engine compartment but was put out by Torrey. Smith charged Beasley with reckless driving, suspended drivers license, speeding, failure to yield to blue lights and siren, DUI-Other, improper turn, disregard for traffic control device, (ran stop sign). He was also on hold for investigation for three counts of child endangerment. Beasley has additional charges with the Laurel Police Department for contempt of court and bond jumping. Total of bonds was set at $18,500. “These traffic safety checkpoints allow us to have a direct impact on public safety in our community,” said Wayne County Sheriff Jody Ashley.
