WCSO Appeals For Public's Assistance In Drive By Shooting That Occured On Horse Shoe Loop Road

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a drive by shooting and the shooting into an occupied dwelling(s) that occurred at approximately 2108 hours Saturday July 23rd 2011. This incident is believed to be in retaliation for a shooting that the Waynesboro Police Department is investigating at an apartment complex on Mississippi Drive earlier the same day.
Deputies Jamey Beard and Brandon Purvis initially responded to the scene. Several witnesses were able to provide information. Deputies also gathered physical evidence at the scene.
A 1986 Ford Lincoln Town car was driven by the individuals doing the shooting on Horse Shoe Loop Road. The Sheriff’s Department is asking the public for assistance in identifying these individuals. You can also submit information online using our "Submit a Tip" form. A cash reward is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information that leads to and arrest/conviction in this case.
