MBN & WCSO Uncover Marijuana Grow On Harry Pippen Drive

September 12, 2008

John Byron Stroud

On Thursday September 11th 2008, The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department conducted an operation at 33 Harry Pippen Drive. The operation resulted in the occupant, John Byron Stroud, being arrested and charged with possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A tip was received reporting drug activity and possible manufacturing of marijuana. WCSO Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett and an MBN Agent went to the residence to locate Stroud and knocked on the door and observed what appeared to be marijuana drying in a paint tray on the kitchen table which led to the subsequent search.

WCSO Investigators Mike Mozingo and Kevin Stevens were summoned to assist in the operation. Officers discovered various types of drug paraphernalia and marijuana inside the residence. A rear utility room contained an indoor grow operation which was dismantled. Officers identified and collected evidence from the scene. Two marijuana plants approximately three feet and four feet tall were located outside the residence. Four seedlings were also found growing outside the home.

The MBN Agent will present the case to the January 2009 Wayne County Grand Jury. Wayne County Justice Court Judge Charles Britton Sr. set Stroud’s bond at $10,000.00 and $25,000.00, and $500.00.
