Sheriff's Department Asks For Public's Help With Shooting Death

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in solving the shooting death of Norman Howard. Sheriff Farrior, Deputies Charles Everett, Patrick Johnson, Chief Deputy Gerald Barnett, & Investigators Mike Mozingo & Kevin Stevens responded to the shooting located on Jim Howard Drive on Friday, January 4th 2008, at approximately 2220 hours. It was reported that three men wearing masks entered the residence and had an altercation with the victim, Norman Howard. Two other family members were home and were physically unharmed. Howard sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to Wayne General Hospital. Investigators interviewed witnesses and collected several pieces of evidence at the scene.
Howard reportedly died Monday morning in a Mobile Alabama Hospital. The Sheriff’s Department has been receiving phone calls from numerous individuals reporting that the incident was drug related but offer no names of the perpetrators.
