Two Charged with Murder

Justin Lee Dearmon, 26, of Waynesboro and Deanthony Donnel Ray, 27, of Court Street in Waynesboro, were both formally charged with murder on January 10 in the shooting death of Rico Cartiz Gray, 26. Justice Court Judge Charles Chapman, on January 12, conducted an initial appearance for both suspects. Dearmon was charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. His bond was set at $1 million on the tampering charge and $1 million cash on the murder charge. Ray was charged with murder, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit a crime. His bond was set at $1 million cash on the murder charge, $500,000 on the tampering charge and $1 million cash on the conspiracy charge. WCSD Sheriff Jody Ashley, Chief Deputy Mike Mozingo, Investigators Shane McIlwain, Fred Daniels and Arson Investigator Kevin Stevens all worked the case. Ashley also thanked the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations for their assistance.
